As part of the Dementia Friendly Communities initiative, the Abergele Steering Group have setup free Dementia Friends sessions for the local community.
The sessions generate awareness and provides people with a better understanding of Dementia. Over one million Dementia Friends in England and Wales have the knowledge of small things you can do to make a difference and have committed to an action that will make the lives of people living with Dementia a little bit better.
The initiative was launched to tackle the stigma and lack of understanding which can lead to loneliness and social exclusion of those living with Dementia.
The aim of the Abergele Steering Group is to change people’s perceptions of Dementia through an hour-long information session.
Located in the Tesco Abergele Community Meeting Room, sessions are all wheelchair accessible and will be delivered by various local Dementia Champions.
Dates of the sessions include;
– Friday 7th April- 11.30 am
– Wednesday 12th April- 6.30 pm
– Thursday 13th April- 2 pm
– Friday 21st April- 11.30 am
– Tuesday 25th April- 6.30 pm
– Thursday 27th April- 2 pm
Places are limited and do need to be booked prior.
Being more patient in shop queues, campaigning for change, telling friends about Dementia Friends or visiting someone living with Dementia, every action counts.
