Virtual Dementia Tour Bus

Wednesday, 10th October to Friday, 12th October

We are delighted that with the help and support of our community and surrounding areas we have managed to raise all the funds we need to bring the Virtual Dementia Tour Bus to Abergele for 3 days.

This means we are able to offer 108 fully funded places to people directly affected by Dementia. If you have a loved one who is living with Dementia, or know someone caring for someone living with Dementia, who would benefit from having better knowledge, and more understanding of what it is like to have Dementia, get in touch. When a person gets a diagnosis of Dementia, those around them get the diagnosis too. They go through all the worry, upset and fear as well.

If we can help those who are caring for someone, to get a better concept of how it feels, then they may be more understanding, more patient, more caring, more considerate and feel more able to care for their loved one.

We would also like to hear from volunteers who run social/community groups. It is vital that people who are living with Dementia remain an active part of our community and continue to attend social groups etc. Therefore there will be places on the bus, specifically for volunteers who run such groups, activities etc.

Dementia Friendly Abergele Awards Ceremony

Tuesday, 3rd July- 6.30pm

Abergele Dementia Friendly Community steering group are inviting organisations to an awards ceremony to celebrate the work they have completed towards their pledges.
Taking place at the Abergele Town Council, we will have the town mayor Cllr Delyth MacRae present to award the certificates of recognition.
Later, all those involved are invited to enjoy refreshments that will be provided.
It is important that those who have submitted pledges follow them through. Our steering group members will then come to assess whether action has been taken.
However, we need to all remember that being Dementia Friendly is a long term goal that requires constant work. It would be great for the same organisations to get behind the initiative each year to build on their understanding and consideration towards those living with Dementia.
