Wow, what a night!
Thanks to the efforts shown by our steering group members, the awards evening was a success!
The awards ceremony, at Abergele Town Council, was setup to celebrate the achievements local businesses had made in terms of the pledges they committed to.
A number of businesses, from various sectors, were invited to attend and be presented with a certificate of recognition by town mayor, Cllr Delyth MacRae.
Our branded goods were thankfully ready in time for the event, which meant the team were kitted out with brand new polo shirts.
Representatives joined us from the likes of Home Instead Senior Care, Abergele Town Council, Co Op Abergele and Pensarn, Howell Jones Solicitors, Tesco Abergele, McCoubrey Cooke and Ysgol Bryn Elian.
These businesses were selected following the assessments carried out by the group, as actions had been undertaken towards becoming dementia friendly. They will now have the right to display the logo on their shop front as they are officially affiliated with the steering group.
As the ceremony came to a close, attendees were then led to enjoy complimentary refreshments, which we had sourced from Mrs Buffett of Llandudno.
Working to become Dementia Friendly is an ongoing process and requires constant work. Therefore, businesses that have gained recognition now must continue to implement changes to ensure they can be granted with the privilege in the following year.
We really appreciated all the support from the local community, helping Abergele on its way to be a part of the nationwide social movement that is creating a more considerate environment for those living with Dementia.
