Clinical Governance Meeting at Abergele Hospital

Abergele Hospital invited us along to talk about Dementia Friendly Communities at their latest Clinical Governance Meeting.

Over 50 medical professionals were in attendance, including Consultants, Doctors and nurses.

The North Wales Dementia Friendly Co-ordinator, Jo Lane, opened the Dementia Friendly Community presentation by explaining what it’s all about, as well as detailing the work of the Alzheimer’s Society.

Our group secretary, Lucie, took it from here by explaining how the steering group formed, who has joined and what her role as steering group secretary entails. She also went into how Home Instead Senior Care has supported the group and its setup, as well as the achievements we’ve already seen from other businesses. Later, Lucie described how to get recognition through the steering group and what their organisation would be able to do to help the steering group.

Anita Hagin, Llewelyn Ward Manager at Llandudno Hospital, finished the presentation by highlighting the important work that they have done towards being Dementia Friendly in Llandudno Hospital.

Attendees felt very enthused and left wanting to set up their own steering group within the hospital, with the support of Abergele Dementia Friendly Group.
