Back in July, we held our second Awards Ceremony to celebrate the achievements of local businesses.
Despite some unavoidable apologises, the evening was a success and another great credit to the community spirit of Abergele.
We were very proud to award recognition to:
- The Disability Resource Centre
- The HARP INN Abergele
- Beeutiful Day Events
- The Salon
- Lord & Lesley
- 2nd Abergele Brownies,
All these businesses were presented with their certificates and have now gained official status of ‘Working to become Dementia Friendly’.
A special thanks goes to Chris Roberts, Panorama’s Living with Dementia, Chris’s Story, for giving a impacting personal talk about living with Dementia and the benefit of Dementia Friendly Communities.
Thanks also goes to Deputy Mayor Shirley Jones-Roberts, who presented the Awards with our Chair David Gozzard. Cllr George Frost and Carl Bishop from Abergele Camera Club took photographs throughout and also recorded the event, which can be found on our Facebook page.
Special mention was also given to those who had completed their pledges but were unable to attend, which included:
- Raymond’s Cafe Abergele
- Ysgol Glan Morfa
- Beresford Adams Abergele.
We are currently working with 10 other businesses to achieve their pledges and will look forward to presenting them with their Awards in the next Ceremony.
Steering group members, David Gozzard, Lou Williams, Melanie Gizzi, Alan Hunter and Clara Jones all helped out to make the night as special as it was.
Thanks to all!
